The rules of Infirmary:

The students/staff must bring their Identification Card (ID) each time they visit the Infirmary.

The infirmary nurse checks the vital signs of the patient and call the infirmary doctor for reviewing and managing accordingly.

If the condition is severe and the management is not available, the patient should be referred to Almana Hospital or the nearest hospital immediately.

Students/ staff can either take a rest in the infirmary or sick leave by hours when needed. A special form for sick leave if required will be filled out and signed by both the infirmary doctor and nurse. In case a student missed the class, a sick leave form will be sent to the subject teacher. In the case of staff, the form will be sent to the head of the department. (Form to be filled out - Infirmary Sick Leave Form No.2).

Students staying in the MACHS hostel when they feel sick during college hours should report to the infirmary for evaluation and treatment. In case they are unable to walk, MACHS transport is available to bring them to the infirmary for proper evaluation and management of the infirmary doctor.

All patients are entitled to privacy as stipulated in the patient’s bill of rights charter. Therefore all patients’ files for both students and staff are to be maintained in the Infirmary unit only and treated as confidential.

The Infirmary is not a place for conducting surveys or research or carry out any other activity other than patient care.

The Infirmary is a full time worker in the unit and as such cases are directly answered by the Infirmary Doctor. Contact to student Affairs department in matters pertaining to student’s affairs and the College Canteen.

The infirmary opens at 8:00 am and closes at 4:00 pm from Sunday to Thursday except on public holidays.

Students who are very sick are advised to go straight to the nearest hospital instead of coming to the infirmary early in the morning as an emergency case.

In case of unusual flu-like symptoms with fever and cough or any other infection, it is advisable for the students or staff to seek hospital help for proper evaluation instead of coming to the college and spread the infection.

For the purpose of adhering to the infection control policy, the infirmary nurse will make sure that all packs for dressing are sterilized indicating the date it was done and the expiry date.

Quality control will be maintained on all equipment including the fridges.

All pre-admission medical reports, a copy should be sent to the infirmary to maintain an electronic file and follow up. A medical file will be maintained for all students admitted to the infirmary.

All MACHS staff should be eligible for treatment in the infirmary for minor ailments. They can also make an appointment through the infirmary nurse to be examined unless it is an emergency.
